With the Atkins diet, you have the maintenance phase to use for the rest of your life, so you don’t have to return to the old way. Only use diets that suggest a slow to moderate weight loss and possibly some nutrient supplements. So the element of a safe workable diet are balanced meals, exercise and supplements.

Not all supplements can do what they claim, so do your homework before you buy. All natural ingredients have one advantage. Supplements and medications often don’t mix well, it might be a good idea to take them separately a few hours apart. You won’t need supplements if your diet is well balanced.

Your Skin is Begging for Attention

You’ve had the bariatric weight-loss surgery and you are looking
fabulous as you are feeling healthier, able to live a more
active lifestyle, and wear more fashionable clothing. But you’re
noticing that your skin seems to be so dry! If you’ve had a
problem with acne or oily skin before, then you are elated that
your skin has cleared up and is less oily. But for those who
started out with normal to dry skin to begin with, this new
extra-dry skin poses a bit of an issue, even perhaps, a
discomfort from itching and flakiness.

Developing dry skin after the surgery can become a problem for
many after they undergo the surgery. Not getting enough fluids
in is probably the biggest culprit but not solely responsible.
Acne and oily skin often come as a result of certain foods; and
since a bariatric patient has basically cut out such foods that
are fatty, fried, and greasy, the acne or oily skin goes away.
This is happy news for someone who battled acne or oily skin for
years. But for those who fall into the normal to dry skin
category prior to surgery, the increased dryness can be
irritating.

The skin is the largest organ of our bodies. It is a breathing
and functional covering of our body that holds our skeleton,
muscles, and vital organs all in one neat safe package. Our skin
sweats, absorbs, feels sensations, and also protects everything
inside. It is important that we take care of it so it can
continue to function at its best for us.

Hand and body lotions are the easiest remedies that offer a wide
range simple basics to vitamin-enriched formulas. It’s wise to
experiment with little trial samples of these products to find
out what soothes your skin issues the best. Buy the smallest
amount possible at first so in the event your skin doesn’t’ like
a product, not so much money was spent on something you wont’
use again. And when you find that product that works best for
you, remember where you purchased it so you can buy more -
because you WILL buy more when you use your favorite hand or
body lotion everyday. Hand lotion will be used several times a

extra treatment it needs. Bath salts soften the bath tap water
for the skin while the skin absorbs the softness from the
salts… just like clothing absorbs fabric softener. If you do a
lot of swimming in chlorinated pools, your skin will truly thank
you after a good bath salts soaking. Bath salts provide a
long-lasting effect and make the skin feel refreshed. Bath salts
come in loose crystals or in solid forms that dissolve in warm
water. I prefer the crystals because this allows you to control
the amount you want to use per bath, be it a lot or a little.
Plain Epsom salts are the barebones if that’s all you want, or
you can buy the bath salts that are colored and perfumed to
enhance your soaking pleasure and ambiance.

Don’t forget the lips! They are suffering too from dryness after
surgery! Use a good moisture-rich product. For problem lips that
need help instantly, try a medicated lip balm that has special
healing medicines that will take immediate affect to stop the
cracking and burning. Lip balm should be worn throughout all
seasons as the cold, heat, wind, and sun are not kind to
unprotected lips.

When you buy sunscreens for outdoor activities, select a product
that offers not only efficient sun blockage for you, but also
offers moisturizers.

If you’ve never babied or pampered your skin prior to surgery,
then you need to begin doing it afterward. You’ll find that
you’re experiencing more “touching” encounters than ever before
because people want to hug you in congratulatory embraces as
they tell you how happy they are for you. Make it a “softer”
experience for everyone involved as you drench your skin with
great skin products.

Skin care is something that needs to become a part of your daily
routine as much as getting enough fluids in after surgery. If
you do this, your skin will feel healthier, look more radiant,
and you will probably knock a few years off of your appearance
too! Continue to amaze others - not only in your weight-loss
achievements, but in your general overall healthy appearance as
well. Remember those hugs that are coming!

Wisdom Teeth Part I: About Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom teeth also known as third molars are the last teeth to erupt. Wisdom teeth may become a problem for you as they grow and develop in each corner of your mouth. Problems often develop gradually since development normally spans several years. Nevertheless, these gradual changes can cause sudden and severe pain. Understanding why such things can happen may help you to deal with these problems, or better still, to encourage you to take preventive measures before they occur.

The jawbone grows to approximately its adult size by your late teens. Unfortunately, that size is often too small to hold developing wisdom teeth. This happens because our jaws are smaller than those of early humans who needed large jaws and more teeth for their tougher diet.

When there is not enough room for your wisdom teeth, they may become impacted, or partially trapped in the jawbone and gums. The crown, or top of the tooth, may erupt, or just break through the gum, or it may remain completely within the bone. The roots can grow in unusual directions and may cause a variety of problems in your mouth and with your sinus cavity or the nerve in your lower jaw. The primary preventive measure for wisdom teeth is removal, preferably at an early stage.

Impacted Wisdom Tooth

A tooth becomes impacted due to lack of space in the dental arch and its eruption is therefore prevented by gum, bone, another tooth or all three. Lack of space occurs because our jaws have become smaller through evolution. We do not lose teeth through decay as frequently as in the past and our diet does not wear down our teeth as much.

Impacted wisdom teeth can grow in a variety of directions. A wisdom tooth may grow toward your other teeth, away from them, or even in horizontal or vertical positions. When such conditions occur, it’s far simpler and less painful to have them removed early before they have a chance to firmly anchor in your jaw as the teeth grow and the roots lengthen.

Wisdom Tooth Assessment

Not everyone has problems with their wisdom teeth. Factors that determine whether you will have problems include the size of your jaw and how your wisdom teeth grow in. There may be pain and swelling, or you may have no symptoms at all even though the other teeth in your mouth may be at risk of damage. In addition to actual pain, common problems caused by wisdom teeth can include gum disease, crowding, decay, poor position, and cysts.

Since it is not practical for most people to evaluate how their wisdom teeth are developing, the best approach is to visit your dentist for an evaluation. The dentist will review your dental history, take dental x-rays, and perform an examination to determine the general health of your mouth and the condition of your wisdom teeth. If a problem with your wisdom teeth is detected, the dentist may recommend surgery to remove them and eliminate or avoid any unpleasant symptoms. Early removal is best for most patients as it usually helps to avoid more serious problems later on.

It is very important to talk to your dentist about extraction procedure, risks, possible complications and outcomes of the removal of these teeth. The actual extraction may be done by a dentist or it may be referred to a specialist. This decision is based on the dentist’s preference and the unique features of each individual case. If you are unsure about whether or not to proceed with the treatment suggested by your dentist, it is a good idea to get a second opinion. If you decide after consulting with a dentist to not have any teeth extracted, they should be monitored at every dental visit.

Molding Leather Armor

Making leather armor isn’t difficult, and is easily learned with the right instructions.


Molding Leather Armor


In order to mould leather armor, soak it in water until it becomes pliable and soft.

Then place it in the mould until it dries and hardens.

Cuir Bouilli

The application of heat will make the leather harder. If you were making a cover for a shield, for example, or other pieces of leather amour, the leather would be dipped quickly in boiling water before being moulded. This is called ‘cuir bouilli’, a process employed in making leather armor.

Using vegetable tanned leather with at least a weight of 8 ounces, soak the piece in cold water. This will ensure a uniform absorption when the leather armor is placed in the boiling water. Heat a pot of water to 180 degrees Fahrenheit, then immerse the wet leather for approximately thirty seconds to a minute, until it darkens and begins to curl.

Remove the leather from the water and stretch it around the mould you have prepared, tacking it in place. Allow for shrinkage if you are cutting the leather armor from a pattern. Of course you can water-harden a larger piece of leather, flatten it under a cutting board, and then cut out the individual pieces of leather armor you want, and then mould them to the desired shape. At this stage it will be very stretchy.

The boiling process makes the leather armor thicker and harder, with a degree of shrinkage dependent upon the leather itself and the amount of immersion time. The longer it remains in the water, the more pronounced the effects.

A twenty second immersion can result in a shrinkage of 7/8s, with a thickening of 25%, while a forty second immersion results in a 2/3rds shrinkage and a doubling of the thickness. As in any aspect of leather working, it is best to experiment with scrap pieces of leather first to get the effect you want.

Types of Moulds / Single Mould Moulds can consist of one or more pieces. Folding the leather around the actual object for which a cover is being made, where the mould is the object, is an option when making a case for a gun, an arm guard in archery, a sheaf for a knife or eye-caps for binoculars. Use tacks to hold it in place while it dries.

A Two-piece Mould

A two-piece mould acts like two slices of bread, with the leather being the sandwich filling. In this way, leather armor shields were made. The leather armor is left in the mould until it dries.

A Three-piece Mould

A three-piece mould allows the creation of items like bags and eyeglass cases without using a gusset. The leather is sewn on three sides. Two pieces of the mould are inserted on either side of the interior of the wet leather, and then a wedge is driven between the middle. The forms are left until the leather is dried.

They are catalysts for generating funny ideas.

“What if” challenges your imagination and “anything goes” takes you beyond your imagination. With the combination of these two key stimulants, you will ultimately create a funny idea.

Now let’s take a look at the thinking process behind the creation of a funny idea. Employing the two important phrases “what if” and “anything goes”, means letting your mind run wild and free. Don’t think logically, but creatively. As I say again,”anything goes”! Let random images, thoughts or memories mix, combine or pair them up, until you find a potential funny idea. This technique is popularly known as ASSOCIATION.

You associate thoughts or images from different sources. This association process may appear to be disorganized. But actually it is well focussed and heading towards the ultimate result, that is a Funny Idea!

ASSOCIATION is the key to many potential funny ideas. Rather than sitting down facing an empty sheet of paper, let your thoughts wander….and start from there. Don’t hold back. Remember the phrase “anything goes”. From there you pair them with anything. Let your flight of imagination soar….and I am sure you’ll come down with a real funny idea!

Cast Thy Bread Upon The Waters?

Ecclesiastes 11 verse 1 “Cast thy bread upon the waters: for
thou shalt find it after many days.”

What is God telling us through this passage of scripture?

Sowing of spiritual seeds that will one day yield a harvest?
Giving to others (not necessarily money but time, giving of
ourselves, helping those in need, praying for others, helping
our neighbors, our communities). I know when I plant corn seed
in my garden, I plant in faith that the seed will sprout, will
grow, and I will soon reap a harvest of golden ripe sweet corn.
The LORD tells us we reap what we sow. Have faith in Him who has
said “give, and it shall be given unto you”.

I threw a rock in a pond. It hit one spot, but the ripples of
the disturbed water spread out and eventually reached the shore.
I believe the LORD is telling us to keep on working for
Him..that our labor is not in vain.

Caulking Points

Some call it a disaster in a tube, it congers up images of
sticky fingers and uncontrollable globs of goo oozing out of a
tube and onto the top of your shoes. of course I am describing
that homeowner nemesis…Caulking.

It doesn’t have to be that way, in fact just by avoiding a few
common caulking mistakes you can caulk like a pro.

First, buy the right caulk for the job.There are a lot of
different brands of caulk on the market but there are only a few
types available for residential use, so let’s keep it simple.

100% silicone- solvent base, not paintable, available in stock
colors and clear, difficult to use.

100% silicone- waterborne, paintable, available in stock colors
and clear, easy to use.

Acrylic/Latex- water based, paintable, available in a few
colors, easy to use.

Acrylic/Latex Siliconized- water based, available in a few
colors, easy to use.

Now let’s determine which caulk to use for the job at hand.

If you are planning to caulk your woodwork (interior or
exterior) before painting use a general purpose White Acrylic
latex caulk (siliconized or not). If you intend to caulk the
Counter Top or the Bathtub Surround use a 100% silicone, I
recommend the waterborne (paintable) type for it’s ease of use.
You can choose a color that closely matches you Counter Top or
opt for the clear variety.

Ok, so we got the right stuff, how do we use it without making
a mess. Buy a good caulking gun, look for the type with an
auto-release feature that prevents unintended ooze from the
caulking tube’s tip. Cut a small hole the size of a coat hanger
wire ( diameter) at the tip at about a 45 degree angle. A common
mistake is to cut the hole too large and straight across. Remove
as much of the old caulk as possible from the work surface.Wet
and wring out a cotton rag leaving it damp. Start caulking in a
corner keeping an even pressure on the gun’s trigger while
pulling the tip along the work surface in a smooth stroke.
Smooth out the caulk with the damp rag wrapped around your index
finger,be careful not to remove too much caulk. keep the rag
rinsed out and wipe off the tip of the tube between pulls. Keep
the application light, if the caulking shrinks or sinks into the
cracks simply apply another bead after the first has dried.

That’s it, with a little practice you will be caulking like a
pro.

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.

Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

Ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.

Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.

He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven. (Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.) Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
