An E-book Success Story

When one of my clients, Max Hitchins, released his latest e-book “365 Marketing Ideas For The Hospitality, Tourism & Travel Industries”, he sold in excess of $4,000 worth of e-books within 24 hours.

So would you like to know how he did it? Yes, I thought so!

I’ll explain Max’s success process in a minute. But first, I’d like you to play along with me and do this little puzzle …

Suppose you and I are each going to open a new restaurant in the same street. We’re going to be competitors, and we are desperate to outdo one another.

The night before opening night, the Hospitality Genie appears to you and offers to grant you one wish. But this is a very special wish. The Genie says, “I know that you and Gihan are both going to open your restaurant tomorrow night. I’m going to give you ONE ADVANTAGE that Gihan isn’t going to have in his restaurant. You can choose what that is. But choose quickly, because I’m going to visit him in five minutes to make him the same offer.”

Hmmm … What will you choose? Would you like the best chef in town? The spectacular ocean views from every window? A glowing report from a world-famous food critic? Nationwide exposure on a reality TV show?

OK, did you make a choice? Well, here’s what I choose for MY restaurant: A crowd of hungry people.

Simple, huh? Everything else - and I mean EVERYTHING - is secondary. I’m willing to bet you that if you chose something else, my restaurant would do better than yours.

The most important criterion for success is a crowd of qualified customers who are eager to buy from you.

OK, let’s get back to Max’s e-book …

Some years ago, Max had a printed book with the same title. When the print run ended, he decided to re-write it in e-book format. But he didn’t just wake up and make that decision some day, just because he had run out of print copies.

No, he had a much better idea.

You see, when he asked people to subscribe to his weekly e-zine he also offered them the chance to enter a monthly competition, and he asked them which of his products they would like to win as a prize.

What we discovered over a period of months was that almost everybody was asking for the “365 Marketing Ideas” book.

At first he thought it was just because it was the first one in the list, so we moved it around … and the results were the same.

Talk about a crowd of hungry people!

That’s why Max put so much time into producing the e-book, and gave that priority over all his other products.

And sure enough, the proof of the pudding was when he finally released it for sale last week, and sales shot through the roof.

How can you apply this same principle in YOUR business?

Easy. All you have to do is to ask your customers what they want. And give them an incentive for replying, like an entry in a competition, or a free e-book, or a gift voucher, or whatever works for you.

It’s the best form of market research you can do.

The one Internet Marketing secret I wish I’d been told at the start!

‘Internet marketing’ - the first time you hear the phrase you really don’t know what it means. So you do a few Google searches and browse a few websites and BANG! Your life is never the same again.

It’s like discovering a hidden waterfall in the middle of a golden forest - the only trouble is you don’t know how to swim and you’re scared of taking your clothes off in case you get laughed at.

Internet Marketing to those of us who are lucky enough to make a comfortable living from it is just as it sounds - marketing using the Internet. Yet when one first hears the term it is a mystical, wonderful phrase that conjures up visions of working from home, five or six figure monthly incomes, and a lifestyle that most people can only dream of.

Actually it IS all of the above - a wonderful way of working, and I have been lucky enough, and have worked hard enough to live a lifestyle that seemed a million miles away as I punched the same hole in 50,000 pieces of metal in a factory in the North of England.

But it’s not been a free ride. It has cost me. In time, in relationships and also financially.

I was recently asked in an interview what was the one thing I wish I’d known at the start of my Internet Marketing career. I thought long and hard about this. Learning how to profit from Google Adwords was harder than learning to speak Portuguese (which I can’t), and took a long time. Even now I’m nowhere near an expert. I honestly don’t think many people are, no matter what they claim. But that wasn’t the one thing I wished I’d known.

Do I wish I’d known about the fabulous profits available from creating and having sole control over your own information products? Well yes - like many other newbies I spent a considerable amount of time and money on products with resale rights. Now there’s nothing wrong with reselling other people’s work if it’s done correctly, but I lost a lot of time and money in this area too, before I learned the ‘tricks’ I now take for granted. But that’s not the thing I wished I’d known either, although losing out with resale rights almost put me off the whole Internet thing altogether!

No, the thing I wish someone had told me when I first put finger to mouse was this. You need help. You can do it alone, but it takes longer, costs a lot more and you will lose things on the way - motivation, relationships and certainly money, if you don’t have help.

Now I don’t suggest you need a teacher or mentor, although if you get the opportunity of either, grab it with both hands. But you DO need one or two good books, one or two good courses, and/or a supply of good information.

If I’d have known this I would have subscribed to two newsletters, bought just three ebooks and one course. It would have cost me a couple of hundred pounds. Sounds like a lot? I added up the amount of money I’ve spent on useless information over the past 5-10 years. It adds up to over £10,000 - that’s around $20,000. If I’d only bought the information that I now know is valuable I could have saved thousands of Pounds, but more importantly, I could have saved myself two or three years or hard work.

So if you’re just starting out in Internet Marketing, or you’re reading this because you just can’t seem to make that extra bit of money that would take you into the ‘work from home’ club, then my advice is this.

Join forums. Subscribe to newsletters. Talk to people - email people and ASK ASK ASK what they think the good information is. Take some time to do this, and make sure that the information you buy is good, solid and practical. Ask the ‘gurus’ what they bought when they first started.

Buy it. Read it. Then realise that there comes a time to STOP reading and start DOING. Put the information into practise and become an Internet Marketer.

Good luck!

Throw away the fax machine - A guide to online fax

Have you ever felt like throwing the fax machine out the
window? Well you may not know it but you can, but not literally
please.

There have been services available for some time which allow
you to take your fax needs online and save yourself the hassle
of wrestling with the fax machine.

Any provider should be able to supply you with a basic
fax-to-email service. You are usually assigned your own fax
number and any faxes sent to this number are then attached as an
image file to an email. That is then delivered to your email
account. You will need to keep your fax machine for sending
faxes but you can set it to not answer the phone and keep it on
your main business line.

Most but not all fax services also provide a facility to send
faxes by email, web or straight from the desktop. This feature
can be utilised to send invoices or forms to customers without
first needing print and then fax the document. Fax-to-email
allows you to compose an email to faxnumber@provider.com and
attach each document you want to be faxed. You are then notified
by email when your fax is complete.

Traditionally to enable your business to fax has meant ordering
a separate phone line and number and purchasing a fax machine or
fax software for each user. Which is an expensive proposition
for a communications channel that is still essential but often
rarely used these days. With online fax services these costs are
all rolled in to a single monthly fee which is paid to your fax
provider. Often this fee is just a fraction of the cost of phone
line rental alone. Add the savings in paper and ink and using an
online fax service starts to make a lot of sense.

If your customers fax through a lot of forms that you need to
process and archive you’ll know how tedious it can be to
flick through a whole binder just to find a specific fax. With
an online fax service your fax correspondence can be filed along
with all your electronic correspondence.

Points to consider when choosing a provider:

  • Do
you receive your own dedicated number? Some virtual office
providers for example will place you on a shared number and your
faxes may be seen by anyone.
  • File formats: Make sure
the provider can email you in a format that suits you. Most will
send in a common format like PDF but others may use obscure
formats that require special software to read.
  • Do they
have a method of sending faxes that suits you? Some will offer
you a choice of methods; ranging from basic email-to-fax through
to desktop clients which will allow you to “print”
    directly to a fax.
  • Is there an area code that will be
local for your customers? Even if you are a regional business
you may want to consider a metropolitan fax number if your
customers are located there. Remember, you now have the
    choice.

There are some things to be aware of when switching over to
online fax:

The first is that a fax machine makes a copy of a piece of
paper and that online faxing makes a copy of an electronic
document. You’ll no longer be able to rapidly scribble out
a note and fax it anymore. However, you can just as rapidly send
a quick memo by email-to-fax or through a fax printer. Filling
out a form that has been faxed to you is no longer simple but it
can be done by opening the fax in an image editing program and
typing with the text tool.

The second caveat is that you may be used to signing almost
every fax you send, this is no longer possible as there is no
paper stage. The author recommends that if you have access to a
scanner you can scan your signature and save it as a black and
white image ready to be inserted at the footer of every document
you type up.

All in all if you or your staff don’t use the fax machine
much, or use it for a lot of repetitive work, then faxing online
can save you a lot of money in ink, paper, communications costs
and most importantly - productivity. If you can’t give up
the routine of walking up to the fax machine with a piece of
paper then you might still consider online faxing; but only to
receive your faxes. Remember to turn off the auto answer feature
of your fax machine.

Publish Your Own Ebook

Why on earth would anyone want to do that? There are only 3 possible reasons: 1) Money 2) Fame/Fortune 3) Self Fulfilment

In my case, I publish ebooks for money - the number 1 motivation behind all ebooks on the internet today.

But do you even know how to start? Do you have any idea about the topic you want to write about? How about the actual compilation of the ebook? What about marketing the ebook once you’ve compiled it?

All of these factors need to be addressed before you start work on your project.

First of all, you’ll need to get the logistics right. Will you be writing your ebook in MS Word or will you be typing it directly into some sort of ebook publishing software? Most authors start their work in MS Word and then transfer it to an ebook compiler software program when they have finished.

Which topic will you write about? Many experienced authors suggest that you write about a topic you are passionate about. This is common sense and works well if you know a lot about one particular topic.

Most people don’t have in-depth knowledge in one particular area which limits their chances of writing a concise ebook. However, there are ways around this and you can pick up more information about writing for money from http://www.ebook-publishing-software.com

For example, you can visit www.elance.com and hire “ghost writers” to write an ebook for you which you can then sell online.

Next, you need to decide which format you’d like your ebook available in. PDF ebooks are quite common and can be read by anyone who has Adobe Reader installed on their computer. Unfortunately, PDF ebooks are not as secure as EXE ebooks. EXE ebooks are made using specific ebook publishing software programs.

Some Ebook Software titles include: Ebook Pro Ebook Edit Pro Activ Ebook Compiler Easy Ebook pro Ebook Starter and much more… Read reviews about these ebook generators at http://www.ebook-publishing-software.com

The disadvantage of using EXE ebook makers to compile and distribute your work is the fact that they can’t be used on Macintosh computers. If you want to cater for 90% of computer users, then an EXE ebook will be fine. If you wish to compile for absolutely everyone, you’ll need the less secure PDF method of compiling.

Once compiled, use the in-built password/security features of the ebook software to protect your ebook if you need to.

What do you do once you have you’re ebook ready for distribution to the World Wide Web? Now, you need to start thinking about marketing. There are many ways to market your ebook but the most common method is to build a website explaining the benefits of your ebook. Explain what problems it can solve for the reader.

To drive traffic to your website, you can do several things , each of which take time and hard work. 1) Optimize your website for visits from the Search Engines so you may rank higher than your competitors. 2) Pay for visits to your website by advertising on Google Adwords or any other Pay-Per-Click advertising method. 3) Pay a company a set fee to deliver thousands of visitors to your site

In addition to the above, there are many ways to bring visitors to your site. For example, you can buy pop-under traffic, expired domain traffic, newspaper advertising, ezine advertising and joint ventures.

Once you start to get a steady stream of visitors to your site, you’ll start to see your ebook sales rise.

“The Rich Jerk” Review. The Truth. Right here. Right now.

www.mccolldave.co.uk

Hold On. Become a millionare? From doing nothing? In months?!

Like me, i am sure you see this and think it is a load of rubbish. Trust me, it is. I have come across countless sites and e-books claiming this, but it just is not true. They take your money and become rich while you are left with nothing. I am sick of it. It is illegal firstly, it is against the law as it states that you cannot mislead a consumer with false information.

Well, i have enjoyed telling many sites this and seeing them either try and pay me to shut up or to just dissapear! It has become, if i can say, a hobby.

Well, i came across a new site a few weeks back, “The Rich Jerk”. He is a jerk, and supposedly, he is rich. Well, i was not going to get scammed out of $97 for another e-book that just makes up information that will be no use to me, so as usual, i email to see if i get a response. I got a response, nothing special but better than the majority of scams out there. (always try sending an email first to check it is an actual account, if you do not get a reply do not buy!!).

I then decided to email the “rich jerk” again stating that it is illegal to put this information on his site which claims to make you rich if it is not true. He gave me a solid reply saying that it was not illegal as his claims are true and that i should try it.

With a 45 day money back guarantee i decided there was little harm. Well, did it work?

I am not sitting in a $10 million dollar mansion, and i am not driving a porsche, but its only a few weeks in and i have made profit. I am not an internet expert and this book gave me many ideas on how to make money on the internet and these ideas have potential. I implemented two of them just after reading the e-book and made money within 2 days. Impressive but i was still unsure. Would the results continue? Well, after 2 weeks i have now made a nice profit of $900, and i have to say that is with very little effort or input. Increase effort and input and i could have made double that.

This seems like a glowing report, and i have to admit i was very impressed with this e-book but the way it is written is very full on and if you do not like that i would say that you should think about that before buying. If you would like to make profit, i challenge you, go buy it.

It is currently on sale for $45 i believe and that is a good price, which, will unfortunately not last!

This really is your chance to break through the internet and start making real money. You dont need to waste any more money on other scams, as trust me, i have used them, they are scams, nothing more. This book is genuine and if you have any problems with it you will get your money back guaranteed, nothing to lose! The only thing you might lose is money - if you do not buy the e-book today!

Good luck and i hope it goes really well, please contact me if you feel like letting me know how it guess, David!

CAN YOU GET RICH WITH THIS EBOOK?

I couldn’t resist reviewing an EBook I came across recently called THE RICH JERK. The full page ad grabbed my attention by insulting me, then made me laugh and finally piqued my interest enough to make me want to learn more about it. I paid the forty-nine dollars ($49.00) and bought the EBook. To be honest, I was hoping to be insulted some more. The Rich Jerk is supposedly a real person who has made millions upon millions of dollars on the web. We don’t know his name or what he looks like; but, he shows what are supposed to be his actual bank statements, showing how much money he has made in the past from his websites. Did this impress me? No. But if this EBook really works, I don’t care who he, she or they are. I just want to make money from home.

THE RICH JERK was all business. It was only 49 pages long and downloaded quickly using PDF. This was a pleasant surprise since I have dial-up. It was a quick read and every page was filled with information about setting up money making websites and joining their affiliate program. The advertising was very truthful in that it said this EBook had no fluff. It didn’t. It explained exactly what to do and how to do it; and, how to get started with every little money (under $50). This EBook just didn’t tell you to do one thing or another, it explained HOW to do it and how to get help if you needed it.

Now, does it work? That’s the question (with all due respect to Bill Shakespear). I don’t know. I just bought the EBook and I’m just starting. My initial impression is very favorable. Being that I am computer illiterate, I had some questions after I read it. To my delight, I received a response the same day; and, I asked some very pointed questions. My first question was: “What do I do to start making money within a couple of days?” I was told exactly what to do and how to do it. As a matter of fact, I was given some free and very low cost (under $50) ideas and told exactly how to get started for NO MONEY. I was also told that I should ask for help anytime I needed it; which, of course I will. I have never been shy about asking questions. To be honest, this is one of the very few money making programs I have used where I was encouraged to ask for help. Customer service means a lot to me, and I am very pleased with THE RICH JERK’S customer service.

Today is Monday, November 14, 2005. I bought this EBook on Saturday, November 12, 2005. My goal is to make one thousand dollars ($1,000) in 7 days. I will let you know how I am doing and when I achieve my goal.

Implementing Telemetry Solutions

The dictionary defines telemetry as highly automated communications process by which measurements are made and other data collected at remote, inaccessible or dangerous places and transmitted to receiving equipment for display, monitoring, and recording. The original telemetry systems were termed “supervisory” because they were used to monitor electric power distribution. Telemetry solutions were first implemented in Chicago in 1912, in which telephone lines were used for data transmission on the operation of a number of electric-power stations to a central monitoring command center.

With advancements in technology, telemetry has spread its wings to other fields, each making improvements and modifications to suit the desired purpose. Originally, the data was relayed over wires, but modern telemetry more commonly uses radio transmission and GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) technology for information transmission. One of the limitations of the earlier telemetry systems was the restriction of the subject to the confines of telephone lines. Wireless networking without the encumbrance and restriction of wires connecting the transmitter and receiver has catapulted the potential applications of telemetry solutions.

The list of applications of telemetry is practically endless. Implementing telemetry solutions enables automatic monitoring of large, complex systems such as satellites, chemical plants, oilrigs, and electric power plants, thus eliminating the need for a person to read monitor each location manually. Other areas where telemetry solutions are put into practice include gathering meteorological data, remote meter reading, logistics management, tracking endangered land and marine species, and monitoring manned and unmanned space flights.

Biomedical telemetry or biotelemetry is another telemetry application, which provides a means for transmitting physiological or biological information from one site to another for data collection. Technically, it refers to systems, which require no mechanical connection. Biotelemetry studies in the last three decades have permitted many areas of physiological and behavioral monitoring in diverse conditions. Since the 1970s, telemetry solutions have been utilized for real time physiological monitoring state of patients, who are at risk of abnormal heart activity. These patients are outfitted with specialized telemetry devices, which wirelessly transmit alert messages or distress signals via the standard SMS (short messaging system) protocol to the central database, immediately summoning health care professionals, if the patient suffers from a critical condition.

Science has really come a long way in many areas with the use of telemetry equipment. Even many of the small towns use telemetry to read the electric meter from the truck as it drives by your house. It has become more cost effective to use telemetry in reading the electric meter as opposed to having a person walk from house to house recording the readings in a hand held device.

Keith Londrie II is a well known author. For more information on Telemetry information, please visit Telemetry Information for a wealth of information. You may also want to visit keith’s own web site at http://keithlondrie.com/

2001 Maniacs; Movie Review

Cast: Robert Englund, Lin Shaye, Giuseppe Andrews, Jay Gillespie, Marla Malcolm, Matthew Carey, Dylan Edrington, Mushond Lee, Bianca Smith, Brian Gross, Gina Marie Heekin, Adam Robitel, Brendan McCarthy, Christa Campbell, Wendy Kremer, Kane Hodder.

My Thoughts:Predictable

Review: “2001 Maniacs” is supposed to be a remake of Herschell Gordon Lewis’ “Two Thousand Maniacs”. While I have never seen that movie, the problem with “2001 Maniacs” is that it’s too predictable. .

The story follows 2 separate groups of young people who are headed to Daytona Beach Fl. for spring break. Unfortunately they come across a detour sign in the road and as any good horror fan knows, “Detour” signs always mean “danger” in a horror movie. Before they know it, both groups of teens have stumbled upon a hick town called “Pleasant Valley”, where the people albeit strange as hell, seem friendly enough. Soon another handful of young people arrive into town, a black guy named Malcolm and his asian girlfriend Kat.

The citizens of Pleasant Valley make all of the northern young folks their guests of honor and waste no time in showing a little bit of southern hospitality. But soon some of the young northern travelers begin to disappear, and it becomes evident that all may not be what it seems with the so called good folks of Pleasant Valley who behind the unsuspecting northerners backs, are planning a huge “Feast”…literally. “2001 Maniacs” offers up a good subplot which explains the towns sudden appearance out of nowhere. It seems back during the civil war a group of renegade northern soldiers wiped out the entire town of Pleasant Valley, all 2001 of it’s citizens in fact.

Now they have come back for revenge against the north, on the same day their town was desecrated all of those years ago no less, and it’s made obvious early on that these northern travelers are in for some bad times. However…it takes the travelers awhile to realize it and the question becomes, will they be able to put 2 and 2 together before it’s too late? While “2001 Maniacs” certainly delivers in the blood, gore, and overall splatterfest department…the film lacks an ora of mystery and telegraphs itself way too early. Everything happens the way you would expect it to up until the end, where a little bit of creativity is shown when the last two survivors are thrown into a fight for their lives. The kills are rather creative but you can pretty much figure out who’s going to die and in what order which further enhances this films predictable nature. The people of Pleasant Valley themselves are an annoying bunch, even the very attractive girls in the town are painful to watch when they start talking.

The southern stereotypes from beastiality jokes, incest jokes, and just overall southerners being disturbingly odd jokes are all over the place in this movie. And that’s what kills most of the fun. It would’ve been a nice change of pace to have the folks of Pleasant Valley differ in persona rather than having each one act the same as the other. The teens of the movie are portrayed a little bit better. While we get the usual group of guys out to get laid, we also get a guy with two female friends who has a huge twist applied to his character later in the movie. You’ll have to see it for yourself but take my word for it it’s pretty funny, and we get the interracial couple in which the black guy is a biker and digs Led Zepplin…which pretty much is the ultimate in creating an outside the box character.

Robert Englund gives a good performance as Mayor Buckman of Pleasant Valley which is rivaled only by Lin Shaye as Granny Boone. But even the two of them can’t fully make up for the rest of the actors who portrayed Pleasant Valley citizens in a very subpar manner. “2001 Maniacs” does have it’s good points also, and director Tim Sullivan who also co-wrote the film with penner Chris Kobin - really knew how to make this a “horror movie”. No annoying cut aways or shortening of scenes to avoid showing too much blood on screen. No we get the full deal here which includes body crushing, mutilations, eyeballs popping out of their sockets, death by acid, and two others kills which are even more twisted than those I just mentioned. I just wish they had surrounded all of this great blood, gore, and mayhem with some better villains.

While I thought Englund was a great villain as Mayor Buckman, the other baddies were either portrayed by bad actors or were just too annoying to be cool villains. Now you could say because I’m a northern guy I don’t connect with the whole southern persona thing, which is why I didn’t care for most of the villain characters. But on the flipside of that I thought the Firefly clan in “House of 1000 Corpses” which was yet another psycho redneck flick, were awesome villains. But they were much more hardcore than the Pleasant Valley folk, who came off to me as just a little bit too cornball and not serious enough to make them good villains.

Pros: Creative kills, blood and gore abound, the northern travelers were likeable for the most part. The films final act which includes a showdown between the two survivors and Mayor Buckman and the citizens of Pleasant Valley was awesome. Lin Shaye gives a good performance as Granny Boone despite limited screen time.

Cons: With the exception of Robert Englund as Mayor Buckman The villains weren’t badass enough, and like I stated in the review everything is spelled out to the viewer too quickly as to what will happen to these kids and how. I also did not like the ending and the chain of events which lead up to the films final ending left me shaking my head.

Overall: Average horror movie that has a few items which save it from being a total waste of time. Worth a rental when it hits dvd March 28th.

Cell phone users in UK going crazy

The growing popularity of ring tones has marked a significant rise in the mobile downloads. The sales in mobile downloads is probably going to reach 760 million this year, from just 30 million in 2002. For young and fashion conscious people, ring tones are a craze. Some consider it annoying and irritating. But it cannot be denied that ring tones have become exceptionally hit contributing to the growing Britain’s mobile phone download market. Users are encouraged to spend too much on mobile accessories like ring tones, music, games and other content. It is likely that they would spend a total of £740m ($1.3bn) downloading mobile content to their phones this year. It means that there would be more than 18-fold increase on the £40m spent on downloads just three years ago. Undoubtedly, the ring tone industry is growing at an exciting pace. The easy to download nature of ring tones is further driving young people to personalize their phones with ring tones. The latest generation 3G mobile phones are giving more fuel to users to download superior quality ring tones to their phones. This new technology has increased the capacity and quality of ring tones. The owner of ring tones, Jamster is at the top of UK’s mobile download industry, the cause being the roaring success of ring tones. The Crazy Frog was the first to make it to the top of the music charts with a version of Axel F, in May this year. It is just the beginning of this rapidly expanding sector and people have just started to recognize its potential. Ring tones for mobile phones may soon be the most profitable segment of the industry. On the other side, users are also complaining of the junk mobile texts charging them high rates after they sign up for ring tones. Jamster gives explanation by saying its range of services are growing. Compared to ring tones with 33% sales, games account only with 26% of sales.Ringtones report the largest share of the UK download market. Rest of the market has mobile phone screensavers (13%), gambling (9%), music (8%) and other content - from stocks and shares to pornography (11%). According to the reports, by 2010, the industry could be worth £24.6bn globally. Top mobile phone networks Vodafone, Orange and 3 network are increasing their amount of content to download.

The Vodafone is currently having 3.2 million users. 3 network is also moving with force offering pop music and video downloads.

But still 40% percentage of users think this is waste of money while some say they are not aware of the procedure to download the mobile content. So the challenge is to draw the attention of older people towards the downloading mobile content. This can be done by providing content of their interests.

Secure Call Detail Records Help Companies With Compliance

With attention being focused on compliance to regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley and HIPAA, there has been no cost-effective method for secure remote retrieval of call detail records (CDRs) from the buffer devices attached to telecom switches, and corporations either had to confront exorbitant costs to attain secure retrieval or risk unauthorized use or theft of CDRs.

By partnering with Western Telematic, Incorporated (WTI) of Irvine, California, TelSoft Solutions has incorporated the new NetLinkTM II Secure Call Accounting Buffer to ensure complete security when remotely extracting and transferring CDRs - eliminating the need for added equipment, software, or secure network connections.

“Enterprises who need to track Telecom expenses from multiple locations no longer need to worry about insecure call detail record data retrieval from remote switching locations, or the need for highly expensive solutions to make them secure,” said Don Simons, CEO of TelSoft Solutions. “This is especially important for security-conscious organizations such as financial institutions and health-care organizations, who not only need to keep data secure from unauthorized users, but must also adhere to stringent regulations regarding proper recipients of data. With the addition of NetLink II to our call accounting software it is now possible to securely retrieve call detail records right over the Internet.”

Telsoft’s MegaCall system tracks call activity generated by any type and any number of PBXs from call record source to assignment of accountability. It analyzes call activity for an entire enterprise from a single web-enabled centralized system. All information is collected in real-time and is immediately available for viewing and reporting — an essential support for telecom expense management throughout the enterprise.

NetLink II is the latest in the line of WTI’s best-selling PollCat PBX data recorders, the first of its kind to offer Secure FTP (SFTP) for Call Detail Record transfer and Secure Shell (SSH) for user authentication. Prior to the introduction of NetLink II, remote secure retrieval of CDR data required hundreds of dollars of extra equipment per remote switching location, and much of the time the data had to be transmitted over a phone line or private network connection. Because of NetLink II’s state-of-the-art security features, the extra equipment is no longer needed, and data can be transmitted right over the public Internet, greatly reducing connection costs.
