Sean King, Park Strategies vice president, mirrored the sentiments of many Taiwanese when he expressed his concerns regarding President Barack Obama’s plans about the US’ military support for Taiwan. The island’s de facto independence from China is dependent on the United State’s support. Sean King, along with many Taiwanese, are anxiously waiting for new developments that will come out of this political shift.

Since the United States government has promised to help Taiwan fight off aggression from China, the people of Taiwan views Obama’s victory as a sign that opportunity and equality are within their reach in spite of feelings of anxiousness.

Sean King’s empathy for Asian countries has a lot to do with his job. His specialty in the field of commerce has led him to become responsible for developing Park Strategies’ business relationships and transactions with Taiwan, as well as with other Asia Pacific nations.

Sean King began working for Park Strategies in February 2006. Established by former Senator Alfonse D’Amato and based in New York, the lobbying firm also deals with offering sound professional advice to businesses and the government.

Before Sean King joined Park Strategies, he worked for five years at the United States Department of Commerce. During that time, he served the US and Foreign Commercial Service as Asia’s Senior Advisor.
