The Perfect Golf Swing Is Within Your Reach

The perfect golf swing IS achievable for any senior golfer!

Actually we have noted in our ongoing programs, a dramatic change in the quality of the games of senior golfers many of whom are achieving the perfect golf swing at their ages and despite relative inexperience on the golf course. Not only that, they are hitting the ball as long as their PGA counterparts. And we are talking about both male and female players.

So how do they do it?

The answer is so simple that it may be a little difficult to believe at first. Actually it is the result of a simple combination of personal coaching on swing mechanics and getting stronger. They do not get stronger as a result of arduous weight training using heavy weights designed to give bulky muscles.

Rather the training ideas have even been described as “enjoyable” by some and the program even involves simple exercises that will not take you away from the office or your work and yet have the potential of helping you reach the perfect golf swing much quicker than you ever thought possible.

Very specific conditioning and training achieve the perfect golf swing and a much better game. Exercises that are not straining but are in fact targeted very specifically at improving the quality of the golf game are responsible for the ‘miracles’ in junior golf players.

Surely if it works so well with senior citizens, younger golfers should have no problem. Right?

Actually we are also witnessing junior golfers who are also dramatically revolutionizing their game through the same exercises and conditioning which also involves using products recommended by experts and people who earn a living improving ordinary amateur’s golf games and helping them towards achieving the perfect golf swing.

Golf Cart Buying Tips

Lots of golfers these days are choosing to buy their own golf carts instead of just rent them each time they play. If you play a lot of golf, and live close to a golf course that allows you to use your own golf cart, you can actually save lots of money in the long run by buying a cart. Here are some tips to consider on how to make a smart purchase when you buy a golf cart.

* First of all, consider where you intend to store your golf cart when it is not in use. Make sure that you have a large enough area for storage so that it will easily accommodate the golf cart that you intend to buy.

* Also be sure that the golf cart you choose will fit well within the weight limits of the course that you usually play on. If you see the golf course manager, you can usually get reliable information on this subject that you can count on.

* Consider golf cart security as well. If you plan on keeping your golf cart at home, its usually a good idea to store it inside your garage or a small building dedicated to storing your golf cart. If theft is a common problem in your area, you may even want to consider having an individual key made for your golf cart instead of the universal key that comes from the manufacturer.

* Most golf carts come in either a gas powered or electric version, and you will need to make a decision on which you feel will best suit your needs. One of the major factors in this decision is whether or not you will be able to plug your electric cart in each night to recharge the batteries or not. If for any reason you have to use your cart for more then a day or two at a time without being able to recharge it, perhaps a gas powered cart will be your best bet. But bear in mind that generally speaking, electric carts are much less expensive to operate then gas powered carts, and this is becoming even more so as gas prices continue to rise.

* If you choose an electric golf cart, never let the batteries run down to the point where they no longer have a charge left. Over a period of time, a totally drained battery will become damaged. So be sure to keep at least some kind of charge in the battery at all times.

* If you’re unfamiliar with golf cart construction and maintenance, perhaps your best choice for buying a golf cart is to visit your local golf cart dealers to see what they have in stock. If a dealer has a good reputation in the community for customer service, then you can usually save a lot of money by buying a used golf cart instead of buying a new one. On the other hand, if you are somewhat familiar with golf carts or know someone who is, then the best deals can be had by buying a used golf cart from a local private party who has obviously cared for and maintained their golf cart well.

* Regardless of whether you buy a new or used golf cart, it will be very important for you to perform the regular maintenance that is required for your golf cart in order to keep it in good working order. In this respect they are much like automobiles. The better you care for them, the longer they will last and give you good service.

As you can see, buying a golf cart is not a very difficult proposition. And hopefully with the tips that we have provided in this article, you’ll be able to find an affordable golf cart that will fit your needs for years to come.

3 Easy Changes to Shave Strokes from Your Golf Game

Here are 3 easy golf tips that will immediately give you a better swing and improve your hitting! It did for me almost instantly once I got the feel of it.

I went from hitting maybe one fairway per round and not being able to hit my driver to hitting the vast majority of fairways off the tee while still enjoying the extra distance of using my driver. This is exciting stuff for a mid to high handicapper…so read on.

Golf Tip #1 - Be certain that you are taking the club back by turning your shoulders NOT picking up your hands.

By taking the club back in a “one piece” takeaway, which only means that your shoulders start the turn back and your arms, hands and thus club follow in one piece - by doing this you will automatically put the golf club on the proper swing plane. So long as you do not try to help the club do its job, you will be well down the path to a more solid swing and consistent hits with this tip alone.

Practice this in front of a mirror with or without a club, making sure that your head stays solidly in place and that your three body parts mentioned above go to at least parallel as one unit.

Golf Tip #2 - Don’t overswing and swing easy. They engineer the clubs to do the hitting - getting the ball off the ground and a certain distance no matter how hard you swing. As a matter of fact, the harder you swing the less the club can do what it is supposed to do and you will sacrifice both distance and accuracy.

Just make a full shoulder turn and a good wrist cock then return the club from where it came from! When I say swing easy I do not mean decelerate on the downswing. What I do mean is find a good tempo and naturally accelerate through the ball on your downswing with a complete follow through.

Golf Tip #3 - Relax and enjoy the game. Tension in your golf swing is your biggest enemy. One of the tips that I have recently read is that once you get over your shot and are ready to swing….SMILE!! Believe it or not it works…it is extremely hard to be tensed up and smile at the same time.

These 3 simple tips have taken 5 to 10 of those “dumb” giveaway strokes off my game and it will yours too! Just get the swing thought in your mind of takeaway with the shoulders for a full turn, easy swing back through the ball to let the club do the work and relax! You will be excited to start see those shots going longer and straighter very soon!

Happy golfing!

What Night Golf Ball should I use for my Glow Ball event?

Believe it or not, there are three different types of Night Golf Balls. The more traditional Night Golf ball has a hollow core in which a light stick is inserted (after activating). A player simply bends the light stick until it “cracks” then shakes the contents vigorously to ensure distribution then inserts into a hollow core on this Night Golf Ball. The advantage of this Night Golf ball is that it is relatively inexpensive and can be used over and over again by simply removing the old plug and inserting a new plug the next time you use it. Although not a major disadvantage, players must use a club or two ‘extra’ for this particular Night Golf ball in order to achieve the distance they are used to during their normal rounds. In addition, the glow will last approximately 4 to 6 hours (more than enough time for most Night Golf events.

A second Night Golf golf ball has the feel and similar compression to that of the one you use on the course. It receives it glow from a charger that the players would either carry in their bag (it is very small) or keep in their cart. After tee off, the player would mark the position of the ball and simply rotate the ball between their thumb and forefinger for approximately 10 seconds and then the player can hit their next shot. The advantage of this Night Golf Ball is the ‘feel’ of a regulation ball, good glow and of course, can be used over and over again. The only burdensome activity is charging the ball and sharing a charger in the group (for this type of ball, it is best if every two players share a charger at their Nite Golf event).

A relatively new Night Golf ball blinks like a flasher when struck with a club. This Night Golf balls gives off a red flash (7.2 flashes per second) for approximately 5 to 6 minutes after being struck. The advantage of this ball is that it is easy to find, has the feel of a regulation golf ball and can be used again and again. The downside is that it is recommended that players carry two of these Night Golf balls each to keep play moving. In addition, the strobe effect in this Night Golf ball can be activated for about 40 hours of use. So eventually, their usage will expire.

Regardless of the type of ball you use, Night Golf events offers a course to generate revenue at a time when it is not normally in use!

The Pros and Cons of Cavity Back Irons

Whenever I talk about irons in my golf lessons, students invariably ask which style is bestcavity back or blade. The cavity back has its advantages and its disadvantages. It also has its fans.

Golfers, however, shouldn’t choose an iron style because it’s popular in the clubhouse, since the style many not fit their game. The key to iron styles, as I’ve said in my golf tips, is finding what’s right for you.

Cavity backs are popular these daysand for good reason. A cavity back has a small amount of metal removed from the back of its clubface, producing a small hole. Removing the metal re-distributes the clubhead’s weight around the edges of the clubface, father away from the center of gravity (COG).

Re-positioning the COG creates a much more forgiving iron, with a larger sweet spot along the blade. Thus, a mis-hit with a cavity back is more likely to stay on target than a similar shot with a blade. Why? Because the cavity back twists less in a player’s hand when the ball is mis-hit. A mis-hit with a cavity back is also more likely to travel farther than with a blade.

Cavity backs are “game improvement” clubs, offering special features that help golfers play better, like an oversize head. I’ve talked about these clubs in my golf tips. Players with high and mid golf handicaps prefer cavity backs, although some low handicappers and touring pros use them.

Blade irons are not as popular as cavity backs. A blade iron features a solid clubface back, distributing the weight more evenly across the clubface, closer to the clubhead’s COG. Thus, a blade has a much smaller sweet spot than a cavity back. A blade is also much less forgiving than a cavity back because it twists more in a player’s hands on mis-hits.

Distributing the weight evenly across the clubface, however, creates an iron with better control and more feel. These irons need to be hit nearly perfectly, though, to avoid a bad shot. Thus, it takes a lot of practice and experience to hit these irons well, something I work on in my golf lessons with low handicappers.

The blade iron is known as a more traditional iron because it lacks the cavity back’s special game improvement features. Players with low golf handicaps and touring pros prefer the blade style iron because the added control and feel enables them to shape their shots bettera necessity when playing on challenging courses.

Manufacturers make cavity backs and blades in cast and forged versions. The terms “cast” and “forged” refer to the manufacturing process used to form the iron head’s shape.

Casting turns the metal from which the iron head is made into a molten liquid, which is then poured into a mold to form the iron head. It’s then left to cool.

Forging involves pounding or compressing the metal, in it’s solid form, from which the iron head is made into the desired shape. Other machining and drilling steps complete production.

The manufacturing process has no impact on the iron’s capabilities, as I’ve explained in previous golf tips. If you have two irons, one forged and one cast, of exactly the same shape, with the same center of gravity, same loft, same grip, hitting the same ball, and so on, the shots will travel the same distances 99 percent of the time. And the players won’t know which iron head is cast and which forged.

You need to find the iron style that best fits your game, as I point out in my golf instruction. If you’re a less experienced golfer, the cavity back is probably a wiser choice, since you’re more likely to mis-hit a ball. If you’re a more experienced player, then a blade is probably your best choice, since it provides more control and better feel for shaping shots.

The best way of choosing a style that fits your needs is to test it out. Hit a few balls with each style. If one style feels better than another does, and you have confidence in it, that’s the style that’s right for you.

The Importance of Purchasing and Using High Quality Protective Paintball Gear

Each and every year, tens of thousands of people from around the world engage in the sport of paintballing with regularity. Perhaps you are one of those people who either now enjoy or are interested in taking up paintballing. If that is the case, it is necesary for you to obtain the required paintball gear, including protective paintball gear. Indeed, having high quality protective paintball gear is a must before you take off on a game of paintballing.

The need for high quality, effective protective paintball gear cannot be understated. While paintballing can be a safe sport, safety depends on your having the correct kinds of paintball gear.

Key to the protective paintball gear that you will need to obtain before playing paintball is eye protection. There are a number of different types of protective glasses that have been designed for paintballers. In addition, eyewear that is suitable for sports such as racquetball may also be suitable for use in paintballing, depending on how the eyewear is constructed.

Protective eyewear for paintballing must provide full coverage. In other words, the protective eyewear needs to completely cover and shield the eye area. A mere pair of regular glasses, including a pair of sunglasses, simply will not provide enough protection. Again, when it comes to eyewear on your protective paintball gear list, the glasses must have side blinders to make sure that you are completely protected from flying projectiles which are a common component or paintballing.

In addition to taking the time to find the most appropriate kind of eyewear, there are other protective paintball gear items that you will want to consider. Your clothing choices also are important when it comes to paintballing. You will want to make sure that you have clothing that is or a decent thickness to protect your body itself from damage from flying paintballs. Short paints and short sleeved shirts simply are not appropriate for paintballing, no matter how hot it might be outside.

Some people also insist on wearing headgear when it comes to their protective paintball gear regimen. People tend to be most concerned about protecting their ears from being damaged by flying paintballs.

Many of the commercial paintball gaming centers have specific requirements regarding protective paintball gear. In other words, unless you are wearing the correct protective paintball gear you will not be able to play.

There are a number of different resources in both the brick and mortar world and online where you can obtain appropriate protective paintball gear. In the real world, sporting good stores, some general discount retailers and paintball specialty stores maintain inventories of protective paintball gear.

There are an array of different sites on the Net that carry all of the necessary protective paintball gear that you will need to begin playing. Sporting goods, paintballing specialty, overstock and auction sites likely will all maintain the types of protective paintball gear that you will need in order to enjoy the sport of paintballing without being injured in the process.

2006 Cincinnati Reds Predictions

The Cincinnati Reds showed glimpses of becoming a good team in 2005. They brought big bats to the plate but they suffered from lack of quality pitching all season. In other words, they were the perfect overs team. The average total at home was just over 11 runs per game and the average on the road was barely under 10 at 9.9 runs per game. Consider playing overs on the Reds at home in 2006.

These Reds didn’t get along with the road at all as they were just 31-50 last season. It is yet to be determined on exactly how this season will play out as the Reds dealt away 2-time All-star Sean Casey who has hit over .300 in 5 of his last 7 seasons and has accrued 1125 hits in 1081 games in his career. They gained left handed starter Dave Williams from the Pirates. It hardly looks like a fair trade as Williams is just 17-26 in his career and was just a 10-game winner a season ago. Obviously, Cincinnati is building for the future and it doesn’t look like the future will be any time soon.

Aaron Harang leads this weak starting staff and he has been shaky at best. The team did trade for Dave Williams and Bronson Arroyo, and I do expect Arroyo to do a lot better in this division than he did in the toughest hitting division in baseball. The Reds haven’t gotten a solid feel for how their bullpen will shake out, and we are looking most likely at a bullpen by committee.

With Casey off to Pittsburgh, Adam Dunn, a converted left fielder, will likely return to first base. I expect shortstop sensation Felipe Lopez to pick up some of the slack for Casey by building off of last year’s All-star season in which he led all NL shortstops in homers and RBI’s. Lopez hit .291 last season , but I expect him to hit over .300 this year. Even without Casey the Reds should once again be powerful offensive lineup, but they didn’t do enough with their pitching situation to contend in the NL Central. Maybe one of the most powerful teams in the bigs, with Dunn being good for 40, and Griffey good for over 35 home runs. It’s going to be tough to tell who will make a move to make up for the losses of Casey and Willy Mo Pena, but if Griffey can stay healthy then this lineup will be difficult to face.

The Reds are a tough team to get a solid feel for betting wise and whenever we feel like putting some of our action on this team it brings back memories of Pete Rose and his shady days of managing this ball club. Let’s hope that everyone is more successful this season in placing wagers on the Reds than this former great player was.

Rugby - the most strength-oriented code of football

Rugby players spend considerably more playing time in physical
contact and contest with opponents than players in other forms
of football.

Much of this contact involves extended grappling and wrestling,
but what is also characteristic of rugby is the amount of time
spent attempting to drive forward under loads considerably
heavier than bodyweight. Obviously this is so in the scrum and
maul, but also at the tackle. Both ball-carrier and tackler may
strive to drive one another backward for an extended time after
engagement. American football and rugby league are also
primarily collision sports, but their tackles tend to terminate
much more quickly.

Recognition of the importance of physical strength has led to a
tendency for rugby selectors to favour increasingly heavier
players even for backline positions. A modern professional rugby
team is likely to average over 100kg bodyweight, compared with
less than 95kg and less than 90kg for rugby league and
Australian football respectively. Increased bodyweight appears
to confer no advantage in soccer.

No valid size comparison can be made with players in American
football. Its use of specialist teams means that individual
players are only on the field for limited periods and therefore
really massive players can be employed for the more static areas
of engagement.

For professional rugby, players are often chosen on the basis of
their size and apparent strength but are then not really
expected to work to become significantly stronger. Much strength
training in rugby appears to have the aim of generating
hypertrophy - increasing muscle size and thus body mass - or of
maintaining strength levels rather than seriously exploring the
potential for markedly increased power.

Soccer, Australian football and rugby league are continuous-flow
type games, whereas rugby and, to a much greater extent,
American football are characterised by frequent stoppages and
thus require lower levels of aerobic fitness. But I see little
evidence that rugby coaches have fully realised the potential
this provides to gain a competitive edge by requiring their
players, backs and forwards, to seriously train for strength.

I would suggest that, given the development of very well-drilled
coordinated defensive lines, the next stage in the evolution of
rugby is likely to involve a concentration on the identification
of and development of heavy, very mobile players who possess
very high-range explosive strength.
